The European Council recently approved a list of Council actions to move towards greater LGBTI equality. These actions include guaranteeing greater legal protections for the LGBTI community and their families in all realms in which the EU has competence, promoting a culture of non-discrimination that favors diversity, and investigating and monitoring the situation of this community, as well as lending support to key actors working to achieve equal rights for LGBTI persons.
