New research conducted by a team of social work experts from the Faculty of Law in Zagreb shows that the rate of child poverty is getting higher because parents are at risk of losing their jobs, lower wages and rising education costs. The research was conducted in 2015, with 70 high school students, parents and experts participating. One in three single-parent families or families with three or more children are at risk of poverty. The number of people who are living in extreme poverty — homeless people and poor people whose income is far below the poverty line — is also growing.
