La polizia di Amsterdam sta valutando la possibilità di abolire il divieto di velo per le agenti nell'intento di reclutare più donne migranti. Il capo della polizia ha dichiarato che il corpo intende arrivare ad avere la metà dei suoi agenti che provengono da un contesto migratorio (al momento, tale quota è pari al 18%). L'attuale divieto del velo è entrato in vigore nel 2011 e impedisce ai poliziotti di indossare qualunque simbolo religioso che potrebbe compromettere la neutralità.
