Given the imminent approval of Spain's draft law on abortion, Rights International Spain and seven other NGOs have sent a communication to two UN Special Rapporteurs to ask them to appeal to the government to stop this law. This law constitutes a step backward in relation to the current law, introducing severe restrictions on women’s access to legal services and safe abortions. If enacted, it will put women’s lives and health at risk. We have raised our concerns with the Minister of Justice, urging him to withdraw the draft legislation, but have received no reply.
