What can the EU do if my government is violating human rights that haven’t been put into EU laws?
The EU is not very good at stepping in to protect human rights inside its borders, but if you think the EU or a member country has violated the Charter, you can take action.
The EU decided to write down all the human rights that it must protect in one document: the Charter of Fundamental Rights.
You always have somewhere to turn to for human rights protection. Even when human rights are not listed in national laws, they are protected by international law.
